Taiwan Orthopaedic Association (TOA)

The Aims and Tasks
Taiwan Orthopaedic Association (TOA) is devoted to connect people from
nationwide and around the globe, to promote orthopaedic research, education,
and application.

The Missions
Missions of the Association include:

  1. Promoting orthopaedic researches, and propagating medical ethics;
  2. Investigating the global development and advancement about orthopaedic science;
  3. Collecting orthopaedics-related information and publications for the reference and communication of allied societies and associations;
  4. Organizing lectures and workshops on regular and occasional basis;
  5. Scrutinizing terms and standards of the orthopaedic medicine;
  6. Publishing books about the orthopaedic science, and journal as the official publication of allied societies and associations;
  7. Awarding talent and outstanding orthopaedic surgeons and researches, and organizing competitions on orthopaedics science;
  8. Reviewing the orthopedic residents training institutions, and accrediting orthopaedic surgeons under the governmental commitment and
    supervision;
  9. Coordinating the communication and connection among allied societies and associations;
  10. Providing professional consultations to assist judgment by governmental authorities.

The Organization
The secretariat of TOA locates in Nanjing East Road Taipei, Taiwan. Members
of TOA are certified orthopaedic surgeons (residents in training not
included) and are currently counted 1,531. The association has a council of
27 members, a supervisor board of 9 members, 9 independent executive
committees, and a secretariat. Decisions made by the council under the
supervision of the supervisor board are executed by the committees and the
secretariat. The processes of execution are also audited by the supervisor
board. The executive committees includes:

  5. Review Committee for Chinese Orthopedics Academic Research Foundation

  8. International Affairs Committee.
