To all orthopaedics specialists around the world:

On behalf of the 23 million Taiwanese people, I would like to welcome you all! Taiwan is honored to host the combined academic conference of 16th Asia-Pacific Orthopaedic Association (APOA) and the 59th Annual meeting of Taiwan Orthopaedic Association (TOA), which is one of the global orthopaedics events in 2010.

Over the past years, Taiwan has actively participated in various international science, sports and arts activities. With the government’s support, civilians often find the events appealing and join the festivities. In aspect of health care, Taiwan’s medical standards are reputable and recognized worldwide; for this reason, many foreigners seek medical treatment in Taiwan. To strive for much better achievement, vigorous approaches have also been dedicated by local government in promoting the academic exchange with international medical field so as to alleviate the medical level in this country.

The purpose of the medical and academic exchange is to gather together the world’s experts to exchange ideas, alleviate the medical standards, and even explore and discover new fields to improve the well-being of all. This being said, the event scheduled is the result of a consensus reached; it is also a reaffirmation of Taiwan’s high medical standards. Therefore, I am certain that you will be able to, through this event, share your experiences in the orthopaedic field and your outstanding achievements needed to enhance your professionalism and status in the field.

Furthermore, the organizers have arranged a sightseeing tour during and after the event so you can experience Taiwan’s history, heritage, cultures and customs in addition to its medical care. Through field visitations, you will be able to explore Taiwan’s cultures and customs and its diverse ethnic characteristics.

Finally, to our cherished friends, I sincerely hope that your stay in Taiwan will be an enjoyable and memorable experience. Please share with your friends and relatives about the beauty of Taiwan and the friendliness of people here, so that they will be inspired to pay a visit to this hospitable and beautiful land.
